When a tree falls on your house . . . .
(night of)
next morning - Paul had already gotten started trimming
your husband will (giddily) get out his chainsaw . . .
and spend two days turning your backyard into a sawdust pile . . .
and give you seven heart attacks . . .
But in the end you will be SO glad you married a handyman/lumberjack.
During the storm last week, one of our six backyard trees (you read that correctly - six! The previous homeowners did not understand the meaning of moderation) succumbed to the 70 mile an hour winds. Thankfully, when it fell it landed in such a way that it only broke one deck board. If the tree would have fallen any other direction it could have been disastrous - so we are pretty thankful that we are only replacing one piece of our deck instead of parts of our house, windows, fences, air conditioner, etc.
I was standing at the window when this tree fell right in front of me - all I said was "Oh!" because - well, you don't expect to be looking at your backyard one second and a full view of leaves the next. Paul might have cussed.
It took him most of the weekend, but he diligently removed the tree (with the help of my dad and some ladders). All that remains now is the stump and a shed STOCKED full of firewood (and the huge pile of limbs, of course!). Lexi says she misses the old porch because that tree was apparently her favorite one. Good thing she has 5 more backup backyard trees, huh?
Isn't home ownership a joy?
