Lexi drew this picture of us at the beach
I always feel like the first week of June is the official start of summer. The week we had off at the end of May was like practice - Summer Pre-Session, if you will.
I always feel like the first week of June is the official start of summer. The week we had off at the end of May was like practice - Summer Pre-Session, if you will.
And this week we celebrated the beginning of our summer break
by getting a new air conditioner (finally!),
by getting a new air conditioner (finally!),
starting swim lessons (finally!),
and being sick (could have done without).
The new air conditioner is lovely - our old one was original to the house, extremely loud, and hardly efficient. It has broken at least once a summer for the past couple years, and this year I look forward to enjoying the cool air inside without wondering how long until it stops working.
Lulu started swim lessons this week. This is actually her first time in swim lessons - I know I should have had her in them for the past two summers but two years ago I had a newborn and last summer, well, I kind of . . . forgot. Ooops.
She was very apprehensive prior to her first lesson - she begged me for goggles and a nose plug. I consented on the goggles, but not the nose plug. My reasons should be obvious.
waiting to get the swim party started
Week one went very well! The first day, she was the only kid in her class of 5 who DIDN'T cry (shocking, I know!) and the second day she was excited to get in the water and practice.
This slide is the major motivator in her life right now.
Oh and the sickness. We can't forget about the sickness.
I started us off by waking up the morning after Lexi's recital feeling like my head weighed 52 pounds. I had a terrible headache and my sinuses were out of control awful. I'm mostly back in the game now but I still have a bit of a cough that is disrupting my sleep. Boo.
Poor Emma-Jo.
She woke up this morning and was burning up! I pretty much knew something was wrong when I looked at the clock and noticed it was almost 8 and she wasn't awake. She hasn't been throwing up (PRAISE JESUS!) but she has been sleepy, whiny, tired, and needing snuggled all day. Her fever is under control with some Tylenol and I have basically done nothing today without Emma in my arms (she's sharing my chair right now!).
I know she won't be little forever and I know it won't be that long until she won't want snuggles from Mommy, so I'm just letting everything else be today.
Here's hoping next week brings health!
