Lexi's 5th Birthday was "an amazing day" - that is a direct quote, only it went a little more like this "a-ma-zing!"
We decided to put off the big birthday party one more year. She is still little enough that having Mom and Dad to herself for a whole day of adventures is something exciting. We are postponing the inevitable, but for now having Lexi's special day be all about her, is just perfect (and "a-ma-zing!").
a new birthday outfit, sash, and crown
She had a pretty awesome plan in mind for what we were going to do on her 5th birthday. This is going to play out like photo diary from here on:

While we were in DC, we found a purple amethyst at one of the Smithsonian gift shops. When Paul brought it over to me and said Lexi would LOVE this, we knew we had a special treasure on our hands. We let her open it first, and that little purple crystal went with us everywhere for the rest of the day.
Botanica will always hold a special place in my heart - Paul proposed to me there and we had our wedding reception at Botanica. They currently have a fairy tale exhibit; I knew it would be a perfect place to take Lexi on her special day. She keeps calling it 'the enchanted garden.'
Paul proposed in front of this fountain.
The awesome children's area of the garden.
We tried (and tried and tried) to get her to hold still for a picture. This was as close as we got but still pretty pitiful.
The fairy tale exhibit - it was pretty cool!
Hansel and Gretel display
A special birthday call from Grandma
She sat still long enough for a photo with her Daddy in front of the lily pads
She very specifically wanted Spangles for lunch. She is a fool for their Strawberry Mudslide desserts.
She calls them 'mudSLIMES'
The dining room decorated with polka dots and princesses - per request of the 5 year old birthday girl.

Opening some presents
Her BIG gift this year was a vanity table for her bedroom.
This was her reaction:
priceless
She decorated her own cupcakes this year
Happy Birthday sweet girl!
We let her stay up past her bedtime - this was our sparkling grape juice "toast" at 8:30 pm when she officially turned 5!
We love you Lexi-Lulu!
