Toddler & Tiara

"A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous."
- Coco Chanel

Lexi is in a new phase where she only wants to wear dresses. She also asks for "pretty hair" (having her hair in pigtails or a pony tail) with "wibbas" (ribbons) as soon as she wakes up.

Here are the latest photos of our pretty, pretty princess:

Cats and Dogs

Lexi FINALLY learned how to say K - S - U WILDCATS! We are so ready for games now!

Whenever Lexi spends time at Nana and Papa's, she and Papa like to watch Youtube videos of "Dock Dogs" (dogs that run and jump into water from a platform).

This nightgown is Lexi's absolute favorite thing to wear. She loves it so much that she cries hysterically the next morning when she has to take it off to get dressed. She calls it her "Pono Dwess" since it is a nightgown that has ponies on it.

Sail Away

So, Daddy Sails on Wednesdays . . .

which means Mommy and Lexi are together all day long and all night (Daddy is home for about 9 minutes after work to change and grab a quick dinner). Sometimes things get a little silly, like tonight. We turned on the webcam and played around with LifeCam for a while to keep the little lady entertained.

She loved pointing to herself and saying "SISSY!" which is how she pronounces her name, and would laugh so hard when I would use the features to add stuff to her face (I told her she was Baby Gaga in the pink wig picture).

We also recorded a video (I know, yet, another!) of her many animal sounds.

You've got a friend in me

Over the weekend, Lexi got a chance to play with her cousins on Mommy's side. Aunt Kelly, Uncle Mike, and cousins Chloe (almost 1 1/2) and Baby Trey (almost 1 month) came down to Wichita to visit. Lexi had sssooo much fun, and keeps asking us to "go find Baby Coco" (that's what she calls her cousin, Chloe).

Good Girl, Star!

We spent our 4th of July weekend in Columbus with Daddy's family. We had such a great time, and Lexi loved getting to spend time with her cousins, Ethan and Noah (E-tan and No-No), Grandma and Grandpa (Gam and Gamp), and seeing the cows. Lexi also enjoyed seeing all of the fireworks (she called them stars) and saying "Good Girl, Star" while watching the fireworks. Here are some pictures, courtesy of Grandma, of our 4th of July weekend in Columbus.

Lexi and Ethan - she kept trying to force him to dance with her, and he wasn't too interested.

TWO much trouble

Lexi's 2nd birthday was so great, I had to blog it TWICE!

Here is Lexi playing in her tent and tunnel. I'm afraid this may become a permanent fixture in our family room, since the last time I looked in there she has 'redecorated' the inside with a blanket on the floor, a pillow, another blanket to cover up with, 2 babies, and an assortment of books.

Here is Lexi sitting in her princess chair wearing a princess apron and oven mitts (more birthday presents). She LOVES Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast, and kept pointing to the two princesses saying "see Belle" (sounds like 'see bay-o; she can't pronounce L's yet) and "see Ra" (the pronunciation for Cinderella).

Happy 2nd Birthday Alexis!

Our baby girl turned 2 on June 22nd! We had a pretty low-key day, but she still made sure everyone knew who the Diva in charge was (hint, it wasn't Mom-mom)!

We went to the pool in the morning ("going simming") and went to visit Papa in the hospital in the afternoon (he's home now and doing awesome, by the way). Lexi had a great time strutting around in her pink tu-tu outfit (pictures to come) and saying hi to everyone and pointing out all the angel pictures!

We had a small celebration with just Mom-mom, Dada, and Lexi at home. Her favorite gift had to be the tent and tunnel we set up for her in the living room! (video to come).

Mealtime Madness

When Alexis feels like eating dinner (which is about every 3 days), a show is usually part of the deal. She eats, sings, plays, and likes to run through the lists of things she knows, such as animal sounds and people's names.

Featured here, for your entertainment, Lexi showcases her expanded list of animal sounds (from a previous post), new 'nice words' ("no thank you" and "you're welcome"), and other phrases she has added to her verbal repertoire, my new favorite is "okay, alright."

Sit back, relax, and enjoy the show!

They say . . .

"Money can't buy happiness, but it can buy marshmallows....which are kinda the same thing."
- Anonymous

Normally there is a more drastic change in Lexi's demeanor when she is sad and is offered a marshmallow (the ultimate treat!).

We would like to thank Lexi's Grandma for starting the marshmallow craze - they never fail to effectively end a tantrum!

Ballon Animal

"Nobody can be uncheered with a balloon"
- Winnie the Pooh

We went out to eat last night and Lexi got a balloon because she behaved herself in public. She LOVES balloons. Unfortunately, it popped a couple hours later, prompting our little girl to say, "Oh no, boon! Sorry, boon! SORRY!"

(she pronounces 'balloon' without the l's of course, so boon = balloon)
