Walking on Sunshine

Can you believe it? Alexis started walking!!!

She took her first step Monday, practiced and got really good at avoiding the video camera Tuesday and Wednesday, but by Thursday we caught the little girl on video (not our first attempt, mind you!). She is really getting good and can go about 5 or 6 steps before she falls over laughing, usually into Mommy or Daddy's arms. We are equal parts excited and terrified of Lexi's ever increasing mobility at only 11 months old!

This clip, provided for your viewing pleasure, only took about 20 minutes to capture. I have yet to master the idea that I cannot film with back lighting, hence the darkness of the video, but you can still clearly see our baby girl's walking skills!

Those Lazy, Hazy, Crazy Days of Summer

We took Lexi to the pool on Memorial Day to test out her new flotation device - it took three tries to get her in, and after she got used to the water (it was a LITTLE cold) she was loving the pool! This makes her mommy very happy - you can find us at the pool this summer!

We took advantage of the GORGEOUS weather, and took Lexi to the park for the first time this afternoon. We pushed her (very slowly) in a baby swing (padded with a blanket) and her smile was huge! Mommy is sssooo excited to be able to do this more often in a few weeks when school is out! And no, the camera angles aren't playing tricks on your eyes - her legs are very long!

Nana found these baby sized shades for Lexi to rock this summer at the pool - she actually left them on for quite a while, but then, of course, we got out the camera. She was totally in to posing with her new accessory, though!

Last week, Paul and I watched as Alexis found her way over to the diaper bag, rifled through, pulled out the cheerios, and attempted to share them with Roxy.

Oh My Goodness! Oh My Goodness!
Someone must have been watching "Annie" - Lexi crawled into the laundry basket (hopefully she wasn't trying to escape) and was LOVING messing up Mommy's neatly folded piles of laundry. (check out that tooth in Lexi's great big grin)

Easter Funny

The Easter Bunny came! Mommy made a special cake and we got to spend a lot of time with family over the long weekend! We barely survived Easter Mass - despite getting to church only a paltry 15 minutes early, we had to separate to find seats. I don't know why we don't just ask for chairs to be set up in the lobby for Paul, Lexi, and I - given that we spend the whole Mass out there walking Baby Energizer bunny! But after Mass, there was a nap, and then LOTS of time at Nana and Grandpa's!

Those crazy koala bears. Nana found this toy from when Mommy and Uncle Scottie were little - Alexis was mesmerized!

When we woke up on Easter morning - there was another little surprise waiting for us - apparently our little girl is literally growing right out of her clothes! Lexi had popped a toe out of her sleeper!

Just Say No

Alexis Theresa is keeping us busy! At her 9 month checkup, she weighed 19 lbs. 11 oz (70th percentile) and was 28 3/4 in tall (90th percentile)! She has learned so many new 'tricks' lately that sometimes I feel like if I don't live with a video camera attached to my hand, we are going to miss something.

She is SSSOOO close to walking on her own right now - pulling up on everything and walking along the furniture.

A new recent addition is her ability to tell us "no" - I doubt she knows what it means yet, and certainly not that 'no' is negative - Mommy and Daddy can't stop laughing every time she shakes her head!

Also new to the line-up - Lexi can now tell us she is "So BIG" when we ask "How big is Lexi?"
