Twas the Rice Before Christmas

Twas the rice cereal before Christmas
and all through the house
only Lexi was crying
and Izzy found a dead mouse!
(that dumb dog found a dead frozen mouse in the back yard and brought him inside - gross!)

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
and Lexi was seated in her high chair
And Mom with a spoon, and Dad with a cam,
were just settling in to feed the 'little lamb'

When what to our laughing eyes should appear
at the first bite of cereal her eyes filled with fear!

ANYWAY - you get the idea (she hated it) - Merry Christmas to all and to all a good bite!

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree . . . my baby has ADHD

Well, she fooled me; she fooled me good! We took Lexi to get her 6 month portraits taken yesterday morning, and the child was a supermodel! She smiled on cue, looked directly at the photographer - and took about 25 frames in 5 minutes - AMAZING! (pictures to be posted soon)

Thus, I was falsely led to believe that Alexis would cooperate with trying to get a picture of her in front of our Christmas tree. We have so many cute Christmas outfits and my hope was to get a picture of her in each sitting in front of the tree. My HOPE, not the reality I got.

I overlooked the fact that my darling baby girl is distracted by anything shiny, glowing, glittering, twinkling, or sparkling. What good Christmas tree, doesn't do all of these things? Really it's my own fault for using such sparkly ornaments and shiny paper. The following photos document our futile attempts to get Alexis Theresa to look at the camera. Enjoy!

Roxy just wanted her photo taken, too!

"OK, Mom, I'm ready for you to . . . OOH! Look, something shiny!"

"Umm, I would like to play with this, please"

you can't tell, but her T-Shirt is sparkly and says "Jingle Bell Rocker"

AND, the closest we got:

Turkey for me, turkey for you

SSOOOO many exciting people and places over the Thanksgiving holiday for the Holding family! The festivities kicked off at Nana and Grandpa Dunaway's Thursday (where Lexi showed off her new obsession - drinking straight from a glass - seriously, you can't even hold a cup around this girl without her reaching for it and trying to stick her face in your drink).

On Friday, the five of us (Paul, Megan, Alexis, Roxy, and Izzy) trekked down to Columbus for Thanksgiving with Grandma and Grandpa Holding, Uncle Tim and Aunt Blair, Aunt Kayla and Uncle Travis, and Uncle Ryan! Lexi had such a great time, she decided she didn't need to take naps!

Then on Saturday, we were all off again - this time heading north to Kansas City. All of my mom's family got together - it was the first time in almost 3 years that we have ALL been together! But more importantly, Lexi got to meet her Great Grandpa Kilgore - and they loved each other!

And since we were all together - a new group of grandchildren got their picture taken - the 4th generation! Leslie and Joshua - 8 months, Me and Alexis - 5 months, and Kelly and Chloe (-3 she'll be born in March)!
